Luxurious Knitting by Blue Sky Fibers

If you’re looking for gorgeous yarns and simple, modern designs, you can’t go wrong with Blue Sky Fibers (formerly Blue Sky Alpaca). All of their fibers are pure heaven to knit (or crochet) with. Here are a few of our recent favorites:

Bianca Wrap, in Alpaca Suri Merino. There are endless color combinations possible for this simple knit, and the finished product is just as delightful to wear as it is to create (one of our knitters has barely taken it off since she finished it!).

Etched Rio Wrap in Metalico. A delicate yarn with a subtle sheen. This project features a simple stockinette stitch, with a lace pattern over just the last few stitches–easy and elegant.

Sasha Wrap, in Techno. Easy and fast, this classic design couldn’t be simpler.

Silk and Suri Scarf, in (you guessed it) alpaca silk and brushed suri! Another project so soft you won’t want to put it down…

And don’t forget some of the other Blue Sky yarns and projects we’ve featured recently, including Woolstok and the Chunky Cotton Cowl.

Debbie Bliss Paloma Cowl

Dreaming of spring but still enjoying thick, cozy knitting projects? This lightweight, super-soft cowl in Debbie Bliss Paloma is the perfect solution! It’s a free pattern on Ravelry (the GAP-tastic Cowl by Jen Geigley). Paloma is a gorgeous chainette blend of 60% alpaca and 40% wool, and it knits up fast!

Just mention this post to save 20% off this yarn for the rest of January!

Rainy Weather = Cozy Knitting!

With cold temps and rainy weather, the best thing to do is grab some yarn and needles and KNIT! So come up to the Nest these next few rainy days and get inspired for a new fall pattern. We’re open extra hours this week: Friday 10:00-3:00 and Saturday 12:00-3:00.

With cloudy skies rolling in, I decided to start a new warm weather wrap, Range by Andrea Mowry, which knits up quickly on size 8 needles. My color combinations: Tahki’s Vermont (50% Alpaca/50% Merino) and Lana Gato’s Class (80% Merino/20% Angora). A fun knit using short rows, and my new favorite Brioche. Sure to be fun!

I recently started a new sweater pattern from Drea Renee Knits: Spin Raglan by Andrea Mowry — a quick worsted weight sweater that will be perfect to wear in these fall months. Using Tahki’s Tara Tweed, it’s a super soft tweed yarn to snuggle up with!
